TRAUMA

THERAPY

Whether you’ve dealt with trauma from a single event or a series of ongoing experiences, it can have a profound effect on your daily life. This can leave you feeling stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed by emotions that seem difficult to manage.

Our experienced trauma therapists treat clients with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD). We also work with those who have never been formally diagnosed, but who have experienced childhood trauma, relationship trauma, traumatic grief, medical trauma and intergenerational trauma.

We know that confronting what you’ve been through can feel scary, and at times, impossible. We get it. It is incredibly common to want to avoid addressing your trauma. In working with your trauma therapist, you will focus on understanding the ways in which avoiding these painful memories has offered you an illusion of safety. From there, we will help you get to a place where you can ultimately process what happened to you.

We’re not going to lie - trauma therapy is hard. While there is often initial discomfort, we’ve witnessed firsthand the life-changing impact that it has had on our clients. Our clients have reported a reclaimed sense of self, autonomy, and renewed control over their life as result of this work.

TRAUMA THERAPY MODALITIES

When it comes to healing from trauma, talk therapy is not enough. We believe that trauma requires more of a structured and focused approach. While some deviation is inevitable and even necessary, we believe that it is important to have some sense of direction when treating trauma.

We utilize Mentalization Based Narrative Exposure Therapy (MBNET) and NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) therapies for trauma treatment. We believe that both of these approaches have unique benefits and we determine the best fit based on the specific needs of each individual.

  • Mentalization-Based Narrative Exposure Therapy (MBNET) Mentalization-Based Narrative Exposure Therapy (MBNET) is a therapeutic approach which blends traditional Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) with mentalization-based interventions. This approach focuses on integrating implicit and explicit memories, using storytelling as a form of healing. During sessions, clients work alongside their therapist to create a detailed timeline of their life, emphasizing significant traumatic events. As the individual recounts these experiences, fragmented and disjointed memories are reorganized into a clear and structured story. This process helps desensitize emotional reactions, bringing order to chaotic memories and fostering long-term healing. The focus of mentalization-based content is especially useful for processing complex interpersonal trauma

  • NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) therapy focuses on healing trauma by addressing the impact of early relational experiences and chronic stress on emotional and physical well-being. It emphasizes the connection between unresolved trauma and current survival patterns, helping individuals develop self-awareness and reconnect with their core identity. By working in the present moment and focusing on strengthening emotional regulation, NARM fosters healing without needing to re-experience past trauma. This approach empowers clients to break free from old coping mechanisms, leading to greater self-acceptance and more fulfilling relationships.
